Vaccines in Saxony most likely won’t begin to be distributed until next year. There are plans to have a vaccination center in each district. Having a central location will allow for storage of the vaccinations at minus 70 degrees, which would be more difficult at the family doctor’s office.
The center for the district of Görlitz is planned to be located at the Messezentrum in Löbau. The German Red Cross together with the Bundeswehr have been charged with establishing and operating the thirteen total vaccination centers in Saxony. Mobile teams will be sent to administer vaccinations in care facilities.
The elderly, high-risk patients, medical staff and emergency services employees will be prioritized over other populations groups. People will receive an invitation by mail to be vaccinated when their time has come. The vaccination is voluntary, however in order for the population to be protected 60 to 70 percent of the population receiving the inoculation would be ideal.
