The Silesian Museum in Görlitz announced its new director today. The current director, Dr. Markus Bauer, will be retiring from the position after working at the museum since 1999 as director. Dr. Agnieszka Gąsior will take over the position beginning May 1st, 2021.

Agnieszka Gąsior comes from Jelenia Gora in Poland. She studied art history and modern German philology at the Technischen Universität Berlin and worked as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe.

The Silesian Museum promotes and maintains the history and traditions of Silesia, a region which now lies in Poland and Germany. The museum is located on the corner of the Untermarkt and Brüderstraße in Görlitz, inside the beautiful Schönhof – the oldest renaissance building in Görlitz. The building alone makes a visit worthwhile, but the museum is home to an interesting collection of artifacts about the region and is also home to many cultural events. Follow them on Facebook to stay up to date.

Opening Hours of the Museum: Tuesday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday – Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Admission cost: € 7 , reduced € 5 (Admission is free every first Sunday of the month)

Some information is available in English via the free audio guides available at the reception.
